(Above) The EV-623 atop it's retro-chic desk stand that came with it for $5.00. Lying on the stool next the to 623 is the same era & class of mic from Shure: the 545S. Since I already had the Shure, I recognized the 4-pin amphenol connection on the EV (and had a cable for it!); otherwise I'd have been scared off. I'd read about the 623 being a great harp mic, and that's what they say about the Shure 545. Since the 545 sounds an awful lot like the SM57, it makes a great amp mic. For $5, I thought it was worth finding out if the EV-623 would follow suit.

(Left) The new EV-623 at work in front of my amp. For the record - the Unidyne 57 on the right speaker was not used for this recording. It was only the EV-623 in multiple passes: rhythm 1, rhythm 2, then lead.
